1. The staff and administration building

The staff and administration building

Use of the building 1939–1945

This 505 m² building housed the administration of the naval artillery arsenal.

It contained 41 offices, the commander's room, and a meeting room. The platform served as an anti-aircraft gun emplacement and was equipped with a 2 cm gun.

The company commander of the staff company was also the anti-aircraft commander. He had

his command post on the anti-aircraft tower of the administration building. Ten attic rooms

were used as accommodation for the anti-aircraft crew. The basement housed an automatic telephone system with 300 connections, as well as the air raid command post and eight air raid shelters.

Use from 1945 Tenants and owners in succession

After the war, the Royal Engineers were stationed here.

The occupying forces withdrew in 1946 and refugees moved in.

Many early entrepreneurs found their first home here.

From 1947 to 1954, the building was used as accommodation for refugees,

former soldiers, and unemployed people, who received training as bricklayers,

carpenters, plumbers, car mechanics, and other professions in 26-week courses

at the retraining workshops of the State Employment Office. Around 5,000 retrainees

received their diplomas after passing their exams.

With regard to subsequent use, there is a "certificate of occupancy of the rooms

in the administration building dated April 1, 1960," which confirms the use of 57 rooms that

private individuals, companies, and the municipal administration had rented for their workers and

employees.

On July 7, 1960, the AOK regional association of Schleswig-Holstein purchased the building

and began operating it as a school in April 1961. It offered training and continuing education courses and

numerous seminars for AOK employees as part of their continuing education.

In addition, management training and communication training

were also provided.
